Brief Answer: Environmental & Genetic factors Detailed Answer: Dear Ma'am, Sorry to hear about your daughter's condition. Sarcomas can be of various types and there have been many risk factors implicated in the development of sarcomas. 1. Genetic mutations, which gradually add up, can lead to these lesions. Mutation in the p53 gene are quite common in these patients. 2. Smoking & Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of these cancers 3. Exposure to radiation These are some of the factors which can predispose to a sarcoma but it is very difficult to pinpoint one cause for your daughter's condition. She should be thoroughly investigated. MRI of the limb, Ct scan of the thorax and abdomen and a biopsy of the lesion. This should be followed by excision of the lesion and chemotherapy. Hoping for the best. Please feel free to clarify any other query.
