Question: Good evening. I am a 27 yr old female. No children, h/o endometriosis, and currently on my menstrual cycle. But I had what looked like piece of raw beef come out of my vaginal. What is going on inside my body?
Brief Answer:
It is the shed endometrial tissue.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
The menstrual blood consists of blood, old endometrial tissue which is shed, and vaginal cells. The endometrial tissue is usually shed in small pieces and since it is mixed with blood, it is not easily noticed.
Sometimes it may be shed as large piece and it is normal. What seemed like a raw beef piece is nothing but large piece of endometrium which is shed. This is normal. Do not worry about it.
I hope this is helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama

Are you sure? I was having lower back, abdominal and pelvic pains for days until the mass came out. Once it was out the pain was gone.
Brief Answer:
Yes I am sure
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have seen the pictures you sent. It is the piece of endometrial tissue.
Since it is large it's expulsion would have initiated uterine muscle contractions. That is the reason for your pain.
I hope this is helpful.
