What Causes Pimples Around The Rectal Area?
Question: Hello.. I'm using Mupirocin for the anal fissure I have. After using it for a day, I've developed what looks like big red pimples around the rectum that are open (kind of like when a blister is rubbed open). Could that be from skin rubbing together with the moisture of the ointment?
Brief Answer:
Mupirocin doesn't cause this type of lesion
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is Dr jadia have gone through your report and question.
Mupirocin is anti bacterial cream, which does not cause these types of lesions due to its moisturizer skin rubbing. They should be due to infections only.
I would advise to maintain your hygiene, and consult your family physician for oral antibiotics.
Hope I answered your question.
Would be happy to help you further

Thank you. I also forgot to add that I have used XXXXXXX (a hair removal lotion).I was also wondering if those bumps could be ingrown hairs? Or do ingrown hairs not look like that? Any how, the bumps started to form after I started using the mupirocin. I'm not saying the mupirocin caused the bumps, but that's just the timing they started to form.
Brief Answer:
hair removal lotion could not cause these lesions
Detailed Answer:
Hi, i have gone through your follow up question.
You had used hair removal lotion, which could not cause these types of lesions.
These types of lesion mainly due to local infection, and using mupirocin and these types of lesion are just coincidence. I am unable to appreciate features of ingrown hair. It should be examined under broad light.
So I would advise to consult your family physician for local examination and further management plan as discussed above.
Hope i answered your question.
