What Causes Pimples In The Groin Area?

default
Posted on Sat, 10 Sep 2016
Question: I am a sexually active man, but always have had protection on. I have pimples above my genital area for some weeks now. They are painless, and I can see a new one coming up every two or three weeks. They don't break or open up, but they grow slightly over the weeks. I do use razors to shave but since they started coming I stopped. I attached a picture.

Brief Answer:
Appears to be molluscum contagiosum.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the eruptions. I have diligently gone through your complete query and noted your concern.

After thoroughly analyzing the picture it appears to be molluscum contagiosum. It is type of viral infection caused by sexual contact.

You can notice that there are small eruptions of whitish color and some of the eruptions have central indentation.

This is one of the simplest kind of infection which generally subsides by itself. But if there infections repeated trauma or touching then can spread up. It never causes any serious problem except for secondary infection if become larger.

In my patients I generally extract these out or apply a chemical to cauterize the area. You can mee a dermatologist and get these either extracted or cauterized.

I reassure you that these are one of the simplest of STDs.

I hope this helps.
