Brief Answer:
Folliculitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for using Healthcare Magic. This is likely to be folliculitis. This is a condition whereby the hair follicles become inflamed and small pus-filled swellings develop. It will usually clear up in 2 to 10 days but there are some self-help measures that can be taken to speed up the improvement.
Don’t shave the affected area until the folliculitis has cleared.
Wash the affected area daily with a product containing chlorhexidine. This can be purchased over the counter from your pharmacist.
Maintain good hygiene with daily baths or showers and change your towels and bed linen regularly.
Do not touch or scratch the area.
If you do not notice an improvement promptly then you may wish to see your doctor who could consider antibiotic cream or tablets.
I hope this is of help. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger
