What Causes Pins And Needles In Chest While Coughing?
Question: When i cough I feel pins and needles in my chest all the way down in my arms and into my hands what could be causing that
Brief Answer:
could be muscular origin.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
During coughing (which is a reflex action), the muscles of back, shoulders and chest are all involved.
As you were coughing for some time, these muscles would have got tired due to accumulation of lactic acid (due to continuous extra effort).
Any extra action involves, overworking the muscle and this you are feeling like pins and needles.
The pain over arms to hands could be due to altered neural sensation for which you are feeling like pins and needles.
Once you limit your coughing, the pain will reduce.
Cough suppressants can be used, but when you have not any active phlegm production.
Hope this will help you.
Regards,
