What Causes Planter Fasciitis?

default
Posted on Wed, 13 May 2015
Question: I have pain in the arch of my left foot, like the tendon running from my big toe to my heel is constantly hurting. I wear custom orthopedics which helps a bit, but I will have random, painful spasms. This has been going on for a few years now.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You are probably having planter fasciitis. Treatment of it is wearing of soft shoes, avoid much walking( rest ) , hot fomentation and analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. I found in my clinical practice very good results with injection triamcilone locally in heal. It will be advisable to visit orthopaedician for clinical examination and treatment. You are also need to exclude low arch ( flat foot) by clinical examination.
Second you are having also painful spasms. You are likely to be having vitamin and trace elements deficiencies. Likely to be get benefited by vitamin and trace elements supplements. You can get your vitamin D and vitamin B12 tests as their deficiency is important cause of such pains. If found low you can take supplements of vitamin D3 ( for vitamin D) and Mecobalamine ( for vitamin B12).

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
