What Causes Popping Of Ears After A Nasal Saline Wash?

I have a mild ETD, as we have discussed.
When I use my nose cleaning can; with salt water; I use half of it in each nose.
And after cleaning; I breath little hard air out of my nose to flush out water in my system; I don't block my nose. But today my ears both did a hard pop/loud pop, after flusing out the water. After my ears popped, they makes little weird sounds. Is this normal; or can this be dangerous or damaging for my ear ?
These sensations are common after nasal saline washes.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
1. These sensations are common after nasal saline washes.
2. The weird noises are usually due to the movement of air through the Eustachian tube, noise form cartilage and muscle movement. These are good signs indicating that the tube is opening up.
3. You can try a hypertonic saline (2%) solution. Add the contents of a Budecort (budesonide) respule (0.5 mg/ 2ml) in one liter of solution.
4. This is normal and there is no cause for worry.
5. Get an Impedance Audiogram (Tympanogram) done to check middle ear pressures.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
