What Causes Popping Sensation In Ribs Post Injury?
It's the broken remnant only....
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX , Welcome to HCM,
I'm sorry to hear about the incident.
Well as it seems from your history , it's the broken remnant which is moving with his (your husband) respiratory movement of the chest wall.
I'm afraid that it's nothing too serious at the moment but will be a persistent nagging problem (as it always is in this kind of incidence).
So for the time being it's rest , pain killers and avoidance of any strenuous activities are the things needed to be done .
Also it'll subside on it's on over a period of time and the due course of treatment, provided there's no further injuries or pre-existing co-morbidities which can precipitate it(like osteoporosis).
Please inform him not to lie down on the same side of the broken rib for at least a few days more.
Try to take a lot of Calcium rich foods (lot of cheese and milk products as his health permits) along with lot of rest as they will promote further healing.
In the meanwhile , if only there's any severe symptoms like sudden onset breathing difficulties, new onset lumps , easy bruising then he might need urgent care's attention .
Other than this he will just be fine, don't worry about it dear.
Good Day
Regards
