What Causes Portal Hypertension?
Question: What is portal hypertension and what are the consequences and rectifications?

increase in the BP within a system of veins coming from the stomach, intestine, spleen, and pancreas merge into the portal vein. It is commonly due to liver cirrhosis which results from liver injury caused by hepatitis, alcohol abuse, or other causes of liver damage. It can cause ascites, edema, bleeding from stomach, coma, etc.

Treatment of portal hypertension varies with the cause.
Poratl hypertension could be due to liver issues or issues outside the liver.
