What Causes Profuse Sweating, Swelling In The Face And Vomiting?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Sep 2017
Question: My son is 39 years old--he is in Vancouuver BC on vacation. He experienced sweating/ nausea/vomiting/throat swelling and facial swelling. He responded to epi and in the ER had elevated cardiac enzymes and an abnormal EKG, after 2 hrs the enzymes were normal. He started to have more throat swelling and received more epi. He has been a fireman and paramedic for 12 years and I am a nurse. Should we be worried about his cardiac status? They are discharging him with an epi pen. I think he was seen by 4 MD's and a cardiologist.

Brief Answer:
Cardiac cause needs to be evaluated

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

After going through the medical details provided by you of your son I understand your concern for his health and I would like to tell you that all these symptoms along with an abnormal ECG and cardiac enzymes highly points towards some cardiac cause.

So considering all this I would like suggest you to get a through cardiac evaluation done including a stress test and if required an Angiography also to rule out any coronary artery disease.

If possible kindly upload his ECG and cardiac enzymes report for me to review.

I hope this information will guide you properly.

Kind regards

I don't have access to the labs, but I am sure when he gets home, he will f/u with a cardiologist. I hope he has additional enzymes drawn today, but I am not sure if arrangements were made. We did not receive any calls during the night so I think it went well. Thanks very much for your help.
