Brief Answer:
Anemia treatment and examinations to find the cause of bleeding needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.

I carefully read your question and understand your concern.

Bleeding for prolonged periods of times causes the iron to be depleted in our bodies and might cause iron deficiency anemia. By the test results you have shown it is obvious there are findings of anemia and treatment with iron is needed. It is good she has already done this test so she can have the proper treatment of it.

On the other hand it is very important to know why she is bleeding for prolonged periods of times and than treat the cause of the bleeding

What I would recommend is:
1. make sure she takes food rich in iron like fruit and vegetables especially greenish ones and meat- this alone will not cure anemia
2. she will need iron therapy for 3-6 months to fill her iron stores in the liver
3. it would be a very good idea to have her have a vaginal ultrasound to check the uterus and try to rule out causes of bleeding related to it like endometrial thickening being the most common cause of it. Polyps and other benign causes might be a reason for the bleeding also.
4. A pap smear is always recommended every 3 years in sexually active women over 21 years of age till they are 65 years old
5. If the vaginal ultrasound and the pap smear are normal than hormonal causes of the bleeding might be possible so checking TSH and prolactine might be good
6. Progesterone might be given to stop the bleeding if structural causes are ruled out with pap smear and vaginal ultrasound

I hope this is helpful and answers to your question but please feel free to contact me in case more clarifications related to this are needed.

Kind Regards
