I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. This is usually termed as "Pectus Carinatum". There could be a number of causes which may lead to protrusion. Two most common causes include asthma & scoliosis. Other causes include:
~ Osteogenesis Imperfecta

~ Homocystinuria
~ Sly syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis type VII)

I have attached a picture of my ribs. I sucked in my stomach so i could see my ribs better. I forgot to mention i was born premature at 23 weeks 1Ib 2oz. For long as i can remember my left rib always stuck out a bit when laying down. I also have a discomfort feeling in my rib aswell.
Brief Answer:
Probably "Prematurity" induced deformity
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for getting back with the query. I have seen the attached picture. It gave me slight idea. Prematurity is a very important factor in causing such chest deformities and in your case it must have caused it. I don't think there could be any systemic pathology which has caused this (if there is no other symptoms). If it is affecting your daily life then I would suggest you to visit an orthopedic surgeon. He will examine you and then will advise how to proceed with fixing techniques, surgery, etc.
