What Causes Psoriasis On The Scalp?
Question: What causes psoriasis on the scalp?
Brief Answer:
Autoimmune disorder
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder.
The skin turnover is drastically increased in psoriasis.
Skin starts peeling off and hence you see the flakes.
I treat such cases with a combination of topical steroid lotion like clobetasol to be applied in morning and coal tar lotion to be applied in night.
This combination is safe and effective.
You can try this.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

I was given the clobetasol foam and cicilopirox shampoo and so far neither has worked. As a matter of fact, whatever it is that I have, it's spreading down the back of my neck.
Thank you so much.
I was given the clobetasol foam and cicilopirox shampoo and so far neither has worked. As a matter of fact, two different dermatologists disagree. One says I have exema and the other psoriasis. Meds given from both have only made it worse and it is spreading down my neck. Not a happy patient. Also, there is no peeling or flakes, just lots if bumps and redness. Does not look like edema either and does not respond to steroid creams for exema.
Thanks for time.
