Posted on Fri, 16 Jun 2017
Question: Hi, I am feeling a sensation of neck pulsating for the past 6 months now on the left side only. I am feeling uncomfortable and uneasiness all the time. It seems as if face and neck is having tremors. Whether it is neck pulsating or not, I cant say but i am uncomfortable all the time. I need to rest my Head or put a hand bow my chin to minimize the effect. Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Facial tics

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
You are probably suffering from facial tics.
It can be due to calcium deficiency or some facial nerve disease or some other disease involving facial nerve and causing its irritation.
Please tell me is there any history of facial deviation or loss of sensation on the involved side.
Do you feel some change of the same side in the tongue?
Any history of thyroid disease?
Follow up with the required information so that I can suggest you better.
Thanks and regards

Hi Doc,

Thank You and Greetings!

I do not have any personal or family history of any of the factors you have mentioned. There is also no loss of sensation. No changes in tongue too. I have normal T3 and T4. Slightly elevated TSH (value 8) for the past one year. I have been taking thyronorm 50 for the past 2 years.

Whenever I used to stand still my head , this uneasines happens in left side of neck(side portion). I cannot concentrate because of this. eg if i am taking a photo from a camera, the neck becomes stiff and this pulsating thing happens. If i am thinking over this, the problem gets aggravated. Please suggest.

Thanks,
xxxx

Brief Answer:
Facial tics

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the information.
If the cervical spine MRI is normal than I would advise you to take calcium supplements and vitamin b12 1500 micrograms once daily for few days. if the symptoms still persist than I would advise you to consult a neurologist.
Also get your thyroid function test repeated and a thyroid ultrasound done.
The neck pulsationspulsation can be due to enlarged thyroid or some neck muscle spasms or it can be idiopathic.
You are always welcome with any further questions.
Thanks and regards
