What Causes Purple Colour Eyelid And Swollen Eyebrow While Treating BP?

default
Posted on Fri, 1 Apr 2016
Question: I was seated reading a book and looked up in the mirror to notice one eyelid had turned purple as if I had a black eye in a fight. Just the lid and part of the eyebrow was slightly swollen. No prior history. I am on blood pressure med, and my pressure after the event was 140/80. Should this be a cause for concern or should I rest overnight and check it in the morning?

Brief Answer:
Bleeding under the skin

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
We would have been happier to look at a photograph, still it appears to be a sub cutaneous bleed. This may occur due to a trivial trauma or even rubbing, compounded by fragile blood vessels or high bp.
This will take about a week to go away and tomorrow may appear below the eyelid.
This requires no treatment and will fade away in about a week. Any further query in this regard please do get back to me
