What Causes Purple Discoloration On The Lips While Suffering From Raynaud's Syndrome?

Question: Hi there I suffer from raynaulds and I have noticed it is freezing outside and my lips also look purpleish blue tinge is this normal ? I have had multiple tests on heart including ecgs stress test echo chest X-ray loads of blood tests d dimer tests I'm also pregnant at the moment could this be a blood clot or heart problem as I'm really worried ?

Well, I would like to ask you a few more details here...

When you say you have been suffering from Raynaud's, how long it has been...?? Was it present before pregnancy also or is it just now???Do you get it over the fingers, toes, ear lobes as well apart from lips//

2. Any history of oral ulcers or hair fall

3. Any history of joint pains??

4. Is this the first pregnancy??

5. Any lymph node type of swellings do you feel anywhere....

I don't think it is related to the heart as you have already undergone all the screening.. RAynauds can get precipitated during pregnancy but we need to see the exact cause for it

Hi there thanks for getting back to me I have had the ana cpr profiles as well from doctor a few times to see if it's caused by an underlying autoimmune disorder which have been negative I also had one palpable lymph gland in my neck I had an ultrasound doctor said not to worry about it. It has been there for about 8 months now I noticed yesterday my lip was purpleish but it was freezing outside I'm just really worried it's blood clot in my lungs could it be this ? Is it anything to worry about ? I will attach picture im actually so worried could this be clots or anything seriously wrong

Why did you ask about swollen lymph gland ?

Sorry this is my 2nd pregnancy i have a child at 3 years old

Also could this be lymphoma ? My ultrasound of neck was normal

Sorry for the late reply...Daughter was sick, so had a busy day taking care of her

Well, if your ANA is negative and there have been no ulcers it does sound more like Primary RAynauds....I had asked about the lymph nodes as they can be a part of connective tissue disease, that is it comes with ANA being positive. But since your ultrasound has shown it to be beningn and ANA negative, I dont think you need to be worried about it...

Secondly, pregnancy can make the Raynauds worse as there are a lot of changes in the blood circulation. Kindly take tablet Nicardia retard as it is the safest and try to avoid cold water

Naah, it doesnt sound like lymphoma or blood clot in your lungs as you will be more breathless for that.. It is just altered blood circulation and temperature changes which are worsening your Raynauds. I have gone through the pictures as well, and there is bluish tinge in your nails...

So for now, i would take it easy and try these medicines...IT will get better...

Thanks for your reply hope your daughter is feeling better nothing worse when there unwell .. ok thanks so I have been slightly breathless but I don't know if it's panicking and anxiety doing that I also get some itchy hands and feet don't know if this is stress as well but I'm terrified I have lymphoma would that have shown up on my ultrasound ? I'm just thinking lymphoma as I've read things about people who had aches and pains itchiness that turned out to be that .. would I have more symptoms if it was that and would it have been picked up on ultrasound and blood tests ? Hope you can help my fears so I can stop worrying about this lymph gland

I have been more breathless that's why I'm worried about blood clot or lymphoma but don't know if it's because I'm panicking or pregnant

Also I have a rash on leg doctor said keratise pilaris but I'm scared that's another sign on lymphoma

Thanks for your concern..Yeah she is better now..:)

There is more of an anxiety which is troubling you causing the breathlessness. It can happen in pregnancy as well as there are lot of horomonal changes...But you got to have faith in us

Firstly it is not lymphoma... The lymph node swelling you have, would have progressed in 8 months if it was lymphoma..But it hasnt changed nor the number has increased.

Secondly, if lymph nodes comes up, it has to be in blood as well and CBC would have shown the changes..Rather they come up much before lymph nodes enlargement since it goes through the blood...

Lot of people have small insignificant lymph nodes,whose size is not significant and if it doesnt change we can let it go....

Your breathlessness is more due to anxiety.. With clot in lung, it would have been more severe with the need of hospital admission arising early...

As for kertise pilaris, it is a very common condition in cold weather.. More of a protective mechanism for the skin...And it not at all a sign for lymphoma. Probably will disappear with weather change....

So, having said all that, you have to have some faith in us...We will never want to ignore your symptoms or condition for any matter for it to progress to something more deadly.. So just take it easy and enjoy your pregnancy...
