What Causes Purple Discoloration On The Toes?

Question: The toe next to my big toe is very red-almost purple.. It is not sore. Is this okay?
Brief Answer:
Can be hematoma or infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A red-purple toe that you have can be due to hematoma- a local injury or an infection in the area. This is not a normal finding. You need to consult an orthopedician for an examination and start with proper prescription antibiotics to prevent any infection.
I hope this answers your query.
