Brief Answer:
It means dead cells.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
Thank you for the query.

Whenever there is an infection, our body tries to fight it to protect us from illness. We have different type of cells i our body which are functioning as defence cells. They can be called as immune cells. For example we have neutrophils, macrophages, monocytes, lymphocytes etc.

They have their own life span. After fighting an infection these cells die. These dead cells along with dead infective organism together form PUS.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

So pus is basically a collection of dead cells.

There is no specific time duration for pus collection . It happens whenever there is an infection.
