Question: My mom was diagnosed with Tb in July her ATT was started immediately. Few days later we got her admitted n pnemothorax was performed on her due to air accumulation... after comin home within 3 days pus discharge was started from her wound ...which started as liquid pus after two weeks turned to creamy consistency doc told us to to dressing everyday n take meds regularly...by thiis time air had started leaking from her lungs as wen she coughed we could hear the sound from her side wound.. we changed our doctor who performed bronchoscopy on her and applied glue for her air leak but it Opened the very next day two days later he performed the surgery again this time with a stronger glue n put blocker for her air leak which has helped her but the pus complaint started again n we were told it takes time to heal n its excess discharge n she was asked to take oxygen at home to help her wound n lung heal better ... we have done all the tests and doc has said her TB is friendly...she feels better is fit but the pus still continues... I just wanna know if we are on the right track are we missing anything??? M just concerned about the discharge and she complaints of severe joint pain especially her shoulders and her heart beat still continues to be rapid....

Brief Answer:
It is correct. Be careful of secondary infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I believe the treatment offered has been on the right lines. Discharge due to a tubercular lesion usually decreases only once medicines control the infection which takes about two months. You should be careful of her contracting secondary bacterial infection which you would come to know by symptoms of high spiking fever, redness around the wound and severe pain in area of wound. Therefore you should have regular continuous checkups with your treating Doctor. Also get the liver function tests every month which reveals any reaction to the ATT.

Take care and contact us in case of any other queries or problems that might arise. Do not worry and recovery should occur successfully.
