What Causes Radiating Pain In Lower Left Back And Abdomen?
Question: I think I have a kidney infection. Last Wednesday night, I was doubled over in pain from my left lower back that moved to my lower left abdomen. I felt a STRONG need to urinate but nothing would come out! After several hours and lots of water, the pain subsided. Last night, the pain began to come back as did the urge to urinate with no results. It is getting increasingly worse, I hate to take antibiotics as I have had to take so many over the past few years from multiple surgeries. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have Left Lower Ureteric stone .
Pain in back radiating down to abdomen anteriorly is mostly due to presence of stone in left ureter .However it needs to be confirmed by following tests
Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
In the mean while start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and Tomsulosin once daily with urine alkaliser thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure to drink more water.To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
