What Causes Radiating Pain In Wrist And Thumb After A Blood Test?
Question: I had my blood taken 2days ago and as soon as she stuck the needle in my arm, my thumb started getting numb. And now I have pain that radiates to my wrist and thumb. If she hit a nerve how long will it take for my arm to feel better.
Brief Answer:
1-2 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
It seems that while taking the blood sample the nurse accidentally hit a nerve. This is a minor nerve injury and usually gets better on its own in 1-2 weeks. You can do a hot compress in the area to help in early healing.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
