default
Posted on Wed, 9 Mar 2016
Question: My son has a bug bite 4 days old. First day, I popped the head to get pus out, then I swabbed site w/ alcohol a put neosporin on bite area next day I did the same thing, but today I see a raised red egg shaped size red raised area around the bite. There is no more pus, but the raised area is warm to touch and is hard. Should I take him in to see a doctor?

Brief Answer:
Just an irritate region, noting more; continue with neosporin application

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I would like to start by requesting you never to pop any lesion, pimple, insect bite, blister, etc; in the future as this only makes the region prone to infections.

From the image, I can only see an irritated region which has most probably resulted from the popping, and nothing else. Continue with the alcohol cleaning and application of neosporin cream over the region at least twice daily for the next 7 days.

I hope this information helps. Please do not hesitate to write to me for any further clarifications, and keep me in the loop for any new developments.

Best wishes.
