What Causes Rash On Lower Extremities From Upper Thigh To Above Of Ankles?
Question: Hello, two weeks ago I developed a rash on the medial aspect of my lower extremities from upper thigh to above the ankles. At first, I went to an urgent care center and they diagnosed me with poison ivy rash. Took a 6 day supply of Prednisone oral. The rash did not clear up. A week later today I wake up itching so badly and going through interrupting sleep schedule it's driving me insane! Went to another immediate care in a bigger city. The PA there prescribed me a 12 day higher dose of Prednisone, with tapering of course, Atarax for the itching. I'm also scheduled to see the dermatologist on Monday. Do you have any idea what this could be? I dont have a hex of allergies to anything, and I haven't started any new medicines, foods, routines etc. the only thing I can think of is two days prior to the onset of this dermatitis, I went to have a pedicure, where the technician applied a lotion and another topical product(unknown) to both my lower extremities. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Brief Answer:
Possibly could be Hypersensitivity reaction

Dear Ms,
I would still consider the possiblity of hyper sensitivity reaction to the skin product applied. Absence of allergic history does not rule out this as possibility.
Exact diagnosis will depend on clinical examination. It would be helpful if you could provide clinical photograph for further assessment.
