What Causes Rash On Scalp After Taking Doxycycline?
Question: I have a severe rash effecting my entire scalp (with blisters that peal off), my forehead, and my chest (oh my), plus shoulders, and seeming to spread to hands. It has lasted six weeks. I have acne rosacea so my Doctor prescribed a shot of prednisylone plus 100 mg doxycline twice a day for 2 weeks. I am going to a dermatalogist tomorrow. What should I tell her? I am very miserable and my muscles are very week in my arms and legs?
The only thing slightly different was my house was sprayed but they did not use low allergen/low asthma products.
Prednysoline seemed to relieve itching but doxcycline seemed to do no good and lots of side effects.

Brief Answer:
Side effect of using doxycycline, stop taking this drug&go to ER....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am sorry for the situation you are in.
If the rash started after doxycycline use, then, it is an allergy reaction to this medication. I advise to stop using this drug. As the rash is spreading to the legs, I advise to go to ER as you might need other shots of prednisolone to subside the rash.
For the moment, I advise to take OTC anti-hystaminic medication (e.g. Benadryl) to help subside the rash.
You can discuss this side effect to the dermatologist who prescribed to you.
Wish fast recovery!
