Question: I have had a rash on both sides of my groin area for several months now. it started out as what I thought was a heat rash due to lots of climbing and sweating. I use to be able to have it go away by using baby poweder but nothing seems to help now

Brief Answer:
Possible yeast or fungal overgrowth.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Without seeing the rash, it is hard to say with absolute certainty, but what you are describing may be a skin fungal infection or yeast overgrowth. These like to live in areas that are dark, warm, and moist, without a lot of air exposure.

You can try a topical anti fungal/antiyeast cream, sold over-the-counter, such as clotrimazole (Lotrimin AF), used twice a day for 2 weeks.

Keep the area as dry and exposed to air as possible. After bathing, XXXXXXX dry with a towel, and then dry it further with a hair blow dryer on the lowest setting. Wear loose fitting cotton boxer underwear. It may also be helpful to decrease consumption of sweets, food and drinks with sugar, and alcohol if that applies to you.

If this doesn't help, then it is time to go see a doctor to have it looked at.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
