What Causes Rashes On Upper Chest And Back Along With Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck?
Question: My 10 year old daughter has a rash that started on her upper chest and now is on her upper back and neck and behind both ears. She also has tiny acne bumps all over her forehead, and nose, which started the same time. It does not itch, but hurts behind her ears and is quite red and inflamed.
The rash is raised and almost appears to look like small pimples. It is very isolated to the areas.
She complained this morning of two lymph nodes on the back of her neck to be swollen and they ache.
She works out excessively in a very warm and humid gymnastics gym and sweats a lot!
She also recently had the chicken pox a few months aga, even though she had both vaccines!
Please help!
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to prickly heat

Dear Ms
If the rash is not associated with fever or any respiratory symptoms then there is no cause for concern. The rash is possibly due to blockage of sweat glands and excessive sweating ( also known as prickly heat or seborrhoea). Exact diagnosis will depend on clinical examination, it would be very helpful if you could get back to me with clinical photograph for further evaluation.
