Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: I've had quite a bit of abdominal bleeding, not
necessarily in stool. I was taking 1000 mg of
prescription Aleve and 50 mg of zoloft for
joint pain following treatment of cervical
cancer for months. ive stopped taking all
meds and the bleeding has not stopped.
also passed something I've included in the
attached picture. am 37 years old. im
waiting on insurance adjustments before
see Dr. the ER seems to think there is no
immediate concern.

please note: this is NOT vaginal bleeding, but rectal.

Brief Answer:
suspected hemorrhoids bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I have gone through your medical history and the picture you sent in carefully and understood your concerns.

I noted the blood and blood clots. Most probably the bleeding is from rectum. (Hemorrhoids ).
Can you please give me some more information regarding your bowels movements :
- have you experienced constipation recently?
- have you noted any lump on your anus? or did the doctor in the ER run any rectal examination to rule out hemorrhoids ? If not, take the bloody stool sample with you and report to the doctors in ER and ask for rectal examination and other diagnostic tests.
- any other problem you might be experiencing apart those reported in the medical history

For the moment, I advise to :
- stop using aleve
- keep a good hygiene locally
- take folic acid and iron supplements to prevent secondary anemia
- increase water intake

Looking forward to have the requested information in.

No constipation. I tend to have diarrhea or loose stools shortly after I eat and often throughout the day and night. I did have an examination by the ER doc. he ruled out hemorrhoids and any tears in the local area.

Brief Answer:
Need further evaluations by GI and OG specialists...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

At this point, you need further tests like:
- abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound to find the source of bleeding
- colonoscopy might help to rule out rectal bleeding
- stool culture to rule out bowel infection

You have a previous history of cervical cancer, thus, need re-evaluation of your current health problems by GI and OG specialists.

All the best my dear!
