What Causes Rectal Pain While Passing Stool?

Question: Dear Doc ,

From last one week i was having rectal pain while passing stools . I applied annovate cream for pain relief yesterday and today i had bleeding .

Bleeding with painful defecation indicates likely an anal fissure. Get evaluated, sitz bath, application of hydrocortisone, glyceryl trinitrate ointments to improve venous supply, and talk to a surgeon if anal dilation is needed. Fibrous diet and plenty of fluids is advised.

I was having rectal pain from the last one week while passing stool . Yesterday i had severe pain while passing stool and subsequently had taken voveran 200 mg for relief of pain and later applied annovate cream since i felt the anal area very dry . My daily diet is green tea and walnuts in the morning for breakfast .lots of green salad without oil along with either baked fish or egg white and 300 ml of butter milk for lunch and take fruits like apple , guavas and papaya and black plum for snacks in the evening and brown bread with vegetables or egg white omellete for dinner . I also drink two liters of water . I Work out in the Gym for 1.5 hours on Cross trainer and rowing machine on a daily basis . Today when i strained to pass out the stool i found bleeding taking place and did not pass out the stool .please advice

Rectal pain during bowel movements along with bleeding is most likely to be due to anal fissure. The other causes are thrombosed piles and proctitis.

A rectal examination will help to confirm the diagnosis.
A sigmoidoscopy test may be done to look for other causes of bleeding.

Sitz bath, stool softeners like duphalac and topical medication (Anovate) to relax the anal sphincter may provide relief.
Continue drinking lot of fluids and eat high fiber diet.
