What Causes Recurrent Burning Sensation In The Inner Thighs And Rectum?

Posted on Tue, 15 Nov 2016
Question: About three months ago I started getting a burning sensation in my inner thighs, rectum, testicles and what feels like my urethra. I also have a feeling of urgency to go to the bathroom. I went to the doctor and he said I might have prostatitis. He put me on Bactrim. That cleared up my symptoms completely. However, when the Bactrim ran out the symptoms returned. So I went to my family practitioner and told him about this and he put me on cipro. That also cleared up my symptoms completely. However, once again the symptoms returned. He referred me to a urologist that put me on flowmax and aleve. This helps a little bit but not a lot. Perhaps I have something else besides prostatitis? What are your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
In prostatitis you need to take antibiotics minimum for 6 weeks .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
based on the facts that you have posted you were diagnosed to have Prostatitis and was prescribed antibiotics like Bactrim and Ciprofloxacin and got complete releif from symptoms .However the symptoms have recurred after few days .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) For how many days you have taken Bactrim and Cipro?
2) Was your either Semen or Urine culture done before starting antibiotics .

Prostatitis is very notorious disease and requires one to take appropriate antibiotic for minimum period of 6 weeks .

I would suggest you to get your Urine culture and semen culture done to trace out he organisms causing Prostate infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to so that infection can be eradicated by taking appropriate antibiotic .

Till then continue taking Ciprofloxacin twice daily .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

When I was first diagnosed my urine had bacteria and blood in it. I am now getting a bloody discharge after relieving my bowels. This is new since I started flowmax. Any idea what might cause this?

Brief Answer:
Bloody discharge after bowel movemets not due to flomax.

Detailed Answer:
hello
Thanks for follow up .The blood discharge after bowel movements can be due to Amaebiasis and can not be due to Flomax.

Take Metronidazole twice daily for 5 days .

Get he tests done which I have suggested in my earlier reply and post the reports .
