What Causes Recurrent Fever Ans Lack Of Appetite On Child?

My daughter 3.5 yrs old weighing 15.7 kgs got a fever last week. The doctor prescribed Meftal (7.5ml), Azee 100g, (5ml/day once) and relent syrup for 3ml twice a day, for 2 days. The fever went after 1.5 day that's after 5 doses of Meftal. we continued antibiotics for 4 days and then stopped. Then we had a travel to XXXXXXX immediately once the fever is stopped which is preplanned. She was fine for 3 days without fever and on last friday in XXXXXXX She got fever again 12-13hrs/once. Since the fever was less than 101°F, We gave Crocin when a fever is there. The fever got subsided after 3-4 doses of crocin yesterday. Later we took her to doctor to ask for the repetition of fever reason. Doctor prescribed Ziprox 100g, 4ml twice a daily, we gave her couple of doses till today morning. But after yesterday morning, fever is not there. But, my daughter is very tired and less active. She is not eating much food, but she has appetite. After she takes antibiotic, she seems to be tired according to my wife. Last year, She had suffered 1 week in UTI and after level 4 fluids she became normal. My Question is, Since she is feeling very tired, Can we continue antibiotic for next 4 days?, Why is she feeling very tired?, Till now she got fever 3 times this year starting January. Why is that?, I am afraid of stopping antibiotic course also. What is the suggestion from your side?. Please reply.
complete the antibiotic course
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
I would like to tell you that, never stop the antibiotics on your own without consulting a doctor.
This may result in drug resistance.
Some patient may feel tired due to either antibiotics [due to depletion of normal vitamin producing flora in the stomach] or fever itself. That is nothing to worry.
You can give her oral rehydration solution if she is not eating adequate food.
Also you can try some multivitamin like Ploybion-L which will help you increase the appetite.
4 to 5 episodes of fever are common in a year in children, mostly they are viral.
If the child is very restless, tired, not eating anything, there is less urine output and fever also then see a doctor.
Hope I helped you.

yes it is safe.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
Yes it is safe, dose depends upon weight of the child and type of infection. [in UTI it is 10 to 20mg/kg every 12 hourly].
So I would recommend you to continue the medicine as suggested by the treating doctor.
Tiredness as already explained in the previous reply can occur with any antibiotic.
Side effects are rare like nausea, vomiting, loose motions, Tendinitis. All these side effects can rarely occur if the medication is taken in improper dosage for longer period of time.
You need to worry, continue the medicine for next 4 days as advised by the treating doctor and your baby will be fine soon.
Hope I helped you.

Thanks.
yes you can give bevon
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
You can continue bevon syrup.
Ploybion - L and bevon is almost similar [dosage are also same].
You can give 5ml between antibiotics or 2.5 ml two times a day whichever is suitable for you.
It can given for a month or two.
Hope I helped you.

post fever phase
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
Yes it is normal to have some amount of tiredness after recovering from fever.
Good thing is that, there is no fever and she is eating some food.
Give her sips of oral rehydration solution in between the food.
Continue syp. Bevon , it will also help to recover from weakness.
Hope I helped you.

Doctor said that its Viral infection and no medicines are available. Body should cure automatically. He will examine after 2 days for dengue infection in case. But no dengue symptoms are there as of now. But cough and cold has come today and 1 time 101.2 degree fever came in the evening which is after 56hrs. We gave Crocin 5ml 1 time. Doctor said viral infection used to come like that after some gap. Whether the fever came because we did not give antibiotoc today morning?
My Qn is, With the above results, Can we continue Antibiotic which we already started and 3 doses have been consumed except today morning we did not give as per Doctors advice. Can we complete the antibiotic course as the bacterial infection is not there?, but cough and cold was there for that we are giving Maxtra and Ascoril LS as of now. What should we do now?. Please advice.
follow doctors advice
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
I would like to tell you that examining doctor can say more perfectly about antibiotics.
Many times though there is viral infection, we give antibiotics to avoid secondary bacterial infection. ( so in my opinion you should continue the antibiotics).
Fever may due to skipped dose of antibiotics if there is bacterial infection.
And it is very difficult to differentiate between viral and bacterial infection clinically.
So I would like to tell you to follow examining doctors advice.
Yes it is also true that the fever can come like this (after 56 hrs) in viral fever.
Also you should check the blood for typhoid fever (widal test).
Hope I helped you.

wbc counts are near normal.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
WBC counts are near normal. No need to worry.
Little bit on lower side, which you can get in viral.
It will come normal after 3 to 4 days once fever disappeared. All you can do is just wait and watch.
Mcv and mch are indicators of haemoglobin level, after recovery from the illness you may ask your doctor for some iron tonic to improve the haemoglobin.
Also home made nutritious food rich in iron can elvate the haemoglobin.
Hope I helped you.

yes it will increase.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
Nuetrophils are one of the component of the wbc (white blood cells).
Like lymphocytes, eosinophills, they all comprise of wbc.
So do not worry, neutrophil will increase once the wbc count increased.
Hope I answered your query.
