Brief Answer:
Following lifestyle&diet changes...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

I have noted that you have been suffering of the pancreatitis (pancreas infection). Please bare in mind that it is characterized from relapse episodes, especially, if there factors that would trigger the relapse.

In your case, you are reporting to use alcohol, smoking and have high cholesterol numbers,; altogether, they will trigger relapse episodes. So, if you:
- stop smoking/drinking alcohol
- and stabilize cholesterol levels

then, you will see improvement in symptoms and won't deal with relapse anymore.

You are already taking antibiotic, analgesic and drugs to lower cholesterol levels. I advise to add other drugs including:
- PPIs (omeprazole, etc.)
- pancreatic enzymes

I advise to run an abdominal ultrasound to rule out biliary problems (especially stones) that could also trigger acute pancreatitis.

Now, apart medications, lifestyle and diet changes are crucial in improving the symptoms and preventing the relapse:
- physical activity
- Omega3 fish oil supplement
- fish
- lean meat
- fruits and vegetables
- no alcohol/smoking/processed foods

You can prepare a daily diet menu with a dietitian in order to take foods for your daily needs.

Hope it helped!

Brief Answer:
Bacterial infection-antibiotics are needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing the reports of your lab tests.

I have noted that:
- lipase enzyme is slightly elevated
- leucocytes are increased in number
- neutrophils are elevated too.

Taking all these into account, your lab results indicate more a bacterial infection which is not totally cured.

The abdominal ultrasound was not carried out due to abdominal gas. Therefore, I cannot judge whether you have pancreatitis or not and related stage.

I recommend to:
- continue the antibiotic therapy
- repeat the blood tests after finishing the antibiotic
- repeat abdominal ultrasound, but you need to get prepared as following:
1. take simethicone or eucarbone prior to testing to reduce abdominal gas
2. have your dinner not later than 7 p.m.

- if cannot run abdominal ultrasound, should run ct-scan
- run examination of stool for ova/parasites
- culture the stool for candida

Wish fast recovery!
Dr.Klerida
