What Causes Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection?
Repeated UTI and other symptoms are due to Urethral Stenosis,
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query
Based on the facts that you have posted repeated UTI and pin in urethra that you get are mostly due to narrowing of urethral passage (Senile Urethral Stenosis) which is common in females after the age of 55 years .
In female as the age advances there is generalized atrophy of genito urinary organ including Urethra resulting into narrowing of urethral passage (Urethral Stenosis) .This narrowing of urethral passage causes incomplete emptying of bladder while passing urine and significant amount of urine to remain in bladder after passing urine what is called as Post Void urine .This stagnated urine is the source of infection (UTI) causing all the symptoms.
I would suggest you to consult qualified Urologist for examination and explore efficacy of doing endoscopic calibration of urethral passage .This will help to dilate the urethra .However this calibration and dilatation has to be maintained by doing self dilatation at home for next 3 months .
This will prevent you from getting repeated UTI and relief from other symptoms .
I have been following this regime in my patients of Urethral Stenosis since last 43 years of my practice and getting satisfactory and encouraging results.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
