What Causes Recurring Constipation, Fatigue And Poor Appetite In A Hypothyroid Patient?

Question: Hi,
I am hypothyroid, recently increasing my dosage of natures thyroid (65 gram/grain) from 1 to 2 grains..per my drs. orders as a result of recent blood work. 9 Days ago I got some sever lower right abdominal cramps which I intially thought were a result of food poisoning. After 4 0r 5 days the cramps and pain in the lower quadrant continued, I began to suspect appendicitis. I went to another Dr. (mine is out of town for 2 weeks, and then I gone another week) . She said it wasn't severe enough, or not enough fever to indicate appendicitis. She prescribed Polyethylene Glycol 3350 NF as a laxative to treat the contipation, which she said was probably due to the thyroid meds.
I have taken the laxitive for 3 days, and I admit I look forward to taking it, and look forward to the relief approximately 24 hours later. But the pain is still intermittent, but there.
My symptoms were initially constipation, but that comes and goes. I am still very fatiqued, and occasionally my temperature rises to around 99.5. My appetite has been poor, and food still doesn't sit very well. I have had no naseau or vomiting however. I have also been eating a rather vegan/macrobiotic diet, which is comforting. In hopes of inproving my gut chemistry, I take GI revive, probiotic XXXXXXX and ground flaxseed once a day. (started about 5 days ago. Probably a week before this hit I ended my month long treatment of Doxycylene prescribed for a tick bite. I am not sure what to do next. I am headed to a remote region without medical facilities in two days.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms of uncontrolled hypothyroidism

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concerns. It looks like that yor hypothyroidism is inadequately treated. Do you have the latest thyroid blood work reports?
I must say that it is difficult to titrate and adjust the dose of natures thyroid or any "so called" natural thyroid preperations.

It is better to meet an endocrinologist or an internist and change the medicine to Synthroid or Eltroxin.
For now, you may take the laxative. However, in the long run, it is better to change your thyroid medication.

Detailed Answer:
Really sad to hear about your illness. I hope you are getting better now. It is a good decision to meet an endocrinologist in person and change the thyroid medication.

Wish you a speedy recovery
