Brief Answer:
Yes, kindly go ahead for the examination and tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Yes, given the recurrence of fever above 101 deg F, she should be tested for Swine Flu as it is not possible to differentiate from seasonal flu based only on symptoms.

2. She also has ear ache due to the cold and hence her ears should also be examined. Get an X-ray for adenoids done as this is a common issue at this age.

3. Her examining doctor can decide whether to start anti-viral treatment even before the results of the tests. Other supportive medication such as anti-allergic, anti-pyretic (fever), cough and preventive antibiotics will help settle the symptoms. Keep her warm, well hydrated and give her complete rest.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
