What Causes Recurring Pain Between Shoulder Blades And Stomach Area?

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: I have recurring pain between my shoulder blades and front stomach area. Dr. said about 2 months ago it was T1-T2 issue. Went to chiropractor for adjustment which would relieve it but it keeps coming back. I keep getting gastric distress at the same time I get this deep pain right between my should blades. Awoke last night with same pain for a couple of hours - took rolaid and melatonin and slept. Recurring this am after breakfast. Chiropractor has told me valve at top of stomach open - he mechanically pushes back in place. mother had hiatel hernia repaired and myocardial infarction later life. I gastric discomfort or "fullness" after eating average portioned meals. I have occasional sharper pains just to right of sternum just below or under my ribs. Had 3 weeks of viral bronchitis with severe coughing episodes. Dr. gave me prednisone for 5 days - just finished that dose. Coughing episodes have decreased & productive cough is just decreasing. Don't know if muscles are just sore or if I should be concerned about something more serious.

Brief Answer:
a lot of possibilities....

Detailed Answer:
probably NOT appendix. and... irritation anywhere NEAR the diaphragm can cause cough AND shoulder pain. So.... pneumonia/tumor/lung inflammation and.. the esophagus (which is by FAR the most common cause of this except during viral lung infection season) on TOP of the diaphram and... duodenal ulcer, pancreatitis, liver condition UNDer the diaphram. I have seen two people with parkinson's in which the tremor involved the diaphragm itself and caused painful cough. Also, ACE inhibitor (blood pressure medicine) can cause a dry metallic cough.

Basically an imaging study of the chest and upper abdomen will sort all of this out, and mainly the recommendations of the doctor and chiropracter are the most likely and very reasonable (I'm trying to hit ALL the possibilities for everyone, not just your particular situation).
THank you.
