Brief Answer:
Most likely to be due to viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

He may have some viral infection like infectious mononucleosis, scarlet fever or other cause like thrombocytopenia or rarely leukemia.

He should go for complete blood count first. It will give you overall idea about cause. So go for complete blood count first.
Please give me follow up with your reports.

I got his complete blood count reports.
It shows low normal total wbc count with high lymphocytes. It suggest some viral infection most likely.

As such no treatment is required. Regularly check platelets count and take plenty of fluid orally.
If it remains persistent for long time and consult your doctor for examination.
