What Causes Red Eyes?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Feb 2015
Question: Just had put in a question about blood red eyes occasionally. happens 3 0r 4 times a year, just had one 2 weeks ago, got better, but got up this morning with red again-I take blood pressure medication, but no blood thinner. primary care doctor & eye doctor says just bursted blood vessels--no problem

I want an answer thru e-mail only. I should have known there would be more to this than just asking a question & getting an answer!!! I do not want to subscribe to anything & IF I get an answer I will pay the first $15.00 it asked for, but not any more charges. Im just letting you know I did not get an answer on the first question. Take this as written notice about the charges !!!

Brief Answer:
subconjunctival hemorrhage

Detailed Answer:
My Dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
What you are getting is recurrent subconjunctival hemorrhage. This is a situation where you do not have any symptoms like pain or irritation. Its just this that it looks red and goes off on its own in about 2weeks time.
This happens due to bursting of blood vessels, either due to rise of blood pressure or there is weakening of vessel wall.
The bp may have risen during that time period and may have normalized when you got it checked.
Since there was no history of injury, there is nothing much to be done and the situation resolves on its own so no treatment is needed.
Probably all you can do to prevent this is not to rub your eyes vigerously as that may rupture the vessels.
please do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard
