What Causes Red Itchy Spots On Base Of Penis?
Question: Hello:
I have a question about a small red blotch on the base of my penis where it contacts my abdomen. It's not raised at all, about 50% smaller than the diameter of a dime, and is more oval shaped. It's kind if itchy but not overly so. And it appeared 4 days ago.
I believe it's jock it's and have been treating for 3 days with Lotramin clotrimazole cream. But I've also engaged in SAFE sex with other men, most recent encounter was over 30 days ago.
Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
sounds like yeast/fungus
Detailed Answer:
Hello, It really sounds like jock itch which is a yeast infection. the clotrimazole should take care of it, but it could take several weeks. Can occur in anyone and is not a sign of other infections. If the clotrimazole is not working try some lamisil. It should clear up for you in a few weeks. Use the cream twice a day. This does not sound like a sexually transmitted infection.

Thank you for the information. I just thought jock itch would manifest itself in a larger area. This is rather small (1/2 the size of a dime.)
Brief Answer:
it can spread
Detailed Answer:
Jock itch can start out in a small area. it could also be something like ringworm. Ringworm is not really a worm it is just another form of fungal infection. in any case and antifungal medication would be the best way to treat it.
