What Causes Red Lesions All Over The Body?

Question: My nephew has joint pain all over his body and red lesions all over his body as well as lesions on his scalp
This sounds like an auto-immune condition to me. What do you think? He did not know the name of the medication his doctor had prescribed but the dermatologist gave him a cream for his crusty scalp and red lesions on his body.
