Resembles eczema: manageable
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I am Dr V XXXXXXX a Dermatologist.
I have seen your pic and noted your description.
To me, it seems closest to dry variety of eczema, a term that is used to describe skin's response to one or more causes that may be within the body or come from the outer environment.
Such problems tend to recur but here are some measures that have helped nearly all of my patients with this condition:
1 Avoid the tendency to scratch. If itching is mild, use some hydrocortisone type cream and this can be made more effective by supplementing with Levocetirizine or another antiallergic preparation by mouth, 5 mg per day
2 Avoidance of soaps, chemicals, or irritants coming in direct contact like wool or fur containing articles
3 keep the area well protected and soften the scales, if any, with mineral oils or moisturizers.
4 Report to your doctor in following condition
Oozing, as this might be a sign of infection
Ulceration, can happen due to scratching
Fresh lesions, due to dissemination
Excessive scaling with bleeding, that could be another adverse development
5 In all probability, it should get better and ultimately heal.
Hope you will follow the suggestions to make the most out of them.
Best wishes!
