What Causes Red Spots On Uvula And Swelling In Throat?

Question: Hi
I have had a fever the past two day and also been throwing up those two days.
Now I woke up and don't have a fever anymore and haven't thrown up but my throat is swollen, it's really extremely hard to swallow and hurts super bad. When I look at my throat I can see little red spots on the handy thing in my throat and maybe some white patches in the back of my throat. I can't see that well so it's hard to tell.
I have work in 6 hours and I literally cannot call out sick unless I am diagnosed by a doctor with a note. With kaiser being closed for regular appts on holiday hours, what do you think i have?

Brief Answer:
Very likely bacterial tonsillitis, potentially antibiotics necessary
Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,
this sounds like a bacterial infection if the throat/ tonsils. This needs to be checked by a gp or ent doctor. He can do a swipe test of the throat to proove it, examine you and if necessary perscribe antibiotics. Thats what i usually do when someone with your symptoms comes to my office.
Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards

What is the difference between strep throat and tonsillitis? Are both contagious? If I work in food industry, will I be ok to work if I feel up to it? I feel like strep throat seems more serious in our food industry as I've never heard of anyone call in sick for tonsillitis
Brief Answer:
Strep throat and tonsillitis same thing
Detailed Answer:
Dear patient, bacterial tonsillitis is just another word for "strep throat". Usually you are not contagious anymore after 2-3 days of antibiotic intake. ask your employer how they want to handle that in your company.
best regards
