What Causes Red Throat, High Fever And Cough?

Question: hi,Im very worry ,my 6 yr old,he is sick,yesterday we took him to the childrens hospital emergency,he has high fever,his throat is very red,he is feeling a sharp pain in his stomach,and he is coughing but you can not hear any mucus is like a hallow dry cough,he never vomit until this morning,the docttor at the emergency said is just a virus,but im not convinced.what do i do?
I asked this question half in hour ago and i dont have an answer yet

Hi

The fiery red throat along with high fever and cough might be either a viral illness or a streptococcal pharyngitis. I suggest you do a rapid antigen test which should be available in your pediatrician's office and get back to me. It it turns out to be positive, your son might require an antibiotic like Amoxycillin.
