What Causes Reddish Pimples In Groin Area Of A 2 Year Old?
Question: My 2 year old has red pimples in the groin area and no where else. They dont seem to be bothering him. What could this be?
Brief Answer:
Irritant dermatitis Or insect bite hypersensitivity
Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and i have also reviewed the image.
This seems like a irritant dermatitis/ diaper dermatitis Or it could be a insect bite.
Do you use a diaper for baby? and Is this area covered by a diaper?
Regards

I attached another image. He wears a diaper and the spots/pimples are ONLY in the diaper area. Inner thighs, butt cheeks, above the groin/below the belly button.
He can get dry/irritated skin during the winter- we use aquaphor all over to help with that. We also use Aveeno soap & free/clear detergent. This started towards the end of the week while he was staying at a relatives house, but I think he's had a similar breakout once before, to a lesser degree.

Brief Answer:
Topical steroid+antibacterial oint; treat for scabies as well
Detailed Answer:
hi.
i have reviewed the images.
I suggest you to use an ointment containing combination of a moderately potent topical steroid + topical antibacterial e.g fluticasone propionate 0.05% + mupirocin 2% ointment, twice daily for a week.
I would also like to treat him empirically for scabies considering the morphology and distribution of the rashes.
Lesions in scabies resemble imsect bites and may be distributed at sites like inner thighs, groins, buttocks and lower abdomen.
They may also be found over arms, legs and face in children
For scabies, i suggest a single whole body application, sparing face of 5% permethrin cream, kept overnight for 8 hrs, followed by a bath next day.
