What Causes Reddish Purple Splotch On Foot?
Question: I have MS. I started to wear an AFO for foot drop. Had to wear sock and sneaker and after a few times I noticed on the right foot a reddish purple veiny splotch now I see a dark discoloration appearing above ankle. Could this be anything serious. Shoe was a bit snug

I am 61 yrs old. I am on numerous medications
For my MS. I am on Tysabri I get infused every 6 weeks. Been on this over 2 yrs.
Also for MS on. Gabapentin and Cymbalta on these approx 2 yrs.
Also on Lisinopril and lipitor. Also over 2 yrs
I also take one time a week Alendronate
For osteoporosis

Hello,
I think due to AFO splint which you have worn there is damage to blood vessels and it has cause discoloration of the foot. I would suggest you following.
1. Hot water fomentation
2. Compression bandage
3. Meet with your cardiologist and check your blood test, specially BT,CT,PT test, because it may be possible that your blood clotting mechanism is getting disturb due to numerous drugs.
