What Causes Redness And Irritation Around The Head Of Penis?

Question: Hi,
Earlier in the week I noticed some red irritation around the head of my penis. It itched moderately from time to time so I figured it was a yeast infection and I went and bought a topical fungal cream and started using it last night and today. While I was applying it this afternoon I noticed a grey/purple discoloration on the underside of the tip. It is tingling a bit more than it was before. I intend on shooting down to the hospital tomorrow to have it looked at but I was wondering if you could shed some light on it and give me some peace of mind if possible. There is no pain while urinating or otherwise, just a moderate itch and a slight tingle at the very tip.

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that you are having a fungal infection.
I would advise that you should use a skin cream containing antifungal medication along with a steroid like betamethasone.
This will help in controlling the itching.
Maintain local hygiene.
I hope this is helpful to you.
If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
