Brief Answer:
fungal infection is the most likely cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most likely reason would be intertrigo (inflammation of the body folds) along with a fungal infection.

Intertrigo refers to inflammation of the body folds. It can be complicated by fungal or bacterial infection, in this case, with the itching, likely fungal.

Treatment includes: (1) separating the folds when possible at home with cotton or linen material

In addition a barrier cream such as petrolatum jelly or zinc based cream would also be helpful as well.
This is to prevent friction between the surfaces.

(2)using a topical antifungal such as miconazole, ketoconazole or econazole etc.
This may need to be used for 2 to 3 weeks, this is the length of time it can sometimes take for fungal infections to resolve

(3)mild topical steroid such as hydrocortisone for 5 days to reduce the itching

Use the anti fungal and steroid cream then the barrier protection.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
