What Causes Redness And Swelling In Hands And Feet?

Get blood tests done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query.
You have not metioned any history of stiffness in joints so I am assuming it to be normal.
It seems you have Raynaud's disease. It is a hyperactivation of the sympathetic nervous system causing extreme vasoconstriction of the peripheral blood vessels, leading to tissue hypoxia.
All these symptoms also occurs in autoimmune or connective tissue diasease, underlies Raynaud's, so for your proper diagnosis to be made should get blood tests done in fasting -
Antinuclear antibodies test, fasting blood sugar, E.S.R, C.R.P and send me the report.
In addition I would like to advise you Serum RA factor quantitative, serum uric acid levels also.
You should try to avoid triggers conditons, such as cold, keeping a warm core body temperature and avoiding smoking (including passive smoking) and sympathomimetic drugs.
Calcium channel blockers like nifedipine, Alpha blockers, Vasodilators, antidepressant medication like fluoxetine.
But all these can be advised only after seeing the reports of tests mentioned above.
I hope it helps.

Answer to all of your qeustions is yes.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the response again.
You must know that Raynaud's disease is of two types -
a) Primary Raynaud's happens on its own. The cause is not known.
b) There is also secondary Raynaud's, which is caused by injuries, other diseases, or certain medicines.
This commonly occurs in female of 30 yrs age and above.
If you want it to have under control naturally then you should kept following points in mind.
1) Don't smoke as smoking causes skin temperature to drop by constricting blood vessels.
2) Exercise can increase circulation, among other health benefits.
3) Control stress as it may trigger an attack.
4) Avoid caffeine as it causes your blood vessels to narrow and may increase the signs and symptoms of Raynaud's.
5) Take care of your hands and feet from injury, Don't walk barefoot. In addition, avoid wearing anything that compresses blood vessels in your hands or feet, such as tight wristbands, rings or footwear.
6) Avoid workplace triggers. Avoiding tools that vibrate the hand may reduce the frequency of attacks.
If symptoms starts occurring then-
-Move to a warmer area.
-Place your hands under your armpits.
-Wiggle your fingers and toes.
-Make wide circles (windmills) with your arms.
-Run warm — but not hot — water over your fingers and toes.
-Massage your hands and feet.
Standing all the time is not good for you i.e why your ankles start swelling, instead you should sit or move out after every 1 hour of standing.
I hope it helps.

You can stand and walk intermittently.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the response again.
You can stand for about 1 hour then walk away for 10 mins or sit for about 10 mins. But if you want form stating your condition to protect your job, then you have to get certificate form your doctor in your area.
In order to win your claim for Social Security disability, you must prove that your limitations prevent you from doing your past job and any other less demanding work. This can be difficult for younger claimants, because the Social Security Administration often finds most younger people are able to adjust to sit-down jobs, even with an impairment. But if you can prove that you are unable to even do a sit-down job (Social Security calls this “sedentary” work), Social Security will usually approve your claim.
I hope it helps.
