What Causes Redness And Swelling In The Inner Wrist Region And Knuckles?

Question: I have redness and swelling on my inner wrist just above my right han it feels warm. Earlier today my hand around the knuckle area was also swollen but that has since gone down. Is this symptom of a blood clot?
Brief Answer:
Can be arthritis or tendonitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The redness and swelling on the wrist or knuckles is more likely to be due to arthritis or tendonitis. It is not related to a blood clot. If there is pain on closing the fist then tendonitis is more likely. You need to take a mild anti inflammatory like Aleve and do a hot compress for relief. Application of local analgesic gel can also help. Epsom salt bath can also be helpful in reducing the swelling.
In case the pain and swelling are persistent or are increasing then do consult an orthopedician for an examination and proper prescription medicines.
I hope this answers your query.
