Question: 6'5", 200 pd male recovering from laminectomy 4 days ago. Yesterday I noticed small, tender red area at and slightly into butt crack. Today several small water blisters developed. I am 72 years of age. Any thoughts?
Brief Answer:
Have yiu been changing your position regularly?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this surgery and the blisters you have reported. I hope this surgery accomplishes the objectives that were set.
The description of these lesions makes it concerning for a possible pressure sore. Have you been able to change your position often since surgery? If you have been doing so, congratulations. I will suggest that you avoid exerting any further pressure on these sites, cleanse with an antiseptic lotion like chlorhexidine and keep them dry and airy. These would help hasten healing and prevent any further aggravation of symptoms.
I am certain these measures would help get the condition controlled and guarantee healing. However, if there should be any further worsening, I will recommend a follow up consultation with your treating doctor.
I hope this helps and provides some more information for you to act on. Feel free to ask for clarification and more information if need be. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services.
